The Big Suke Experience
Shocker?
There are times in life when you hear breaking news and your first reaction is something along the lines of “ wow I never saw that one coming”, with just the slightest hint of sarcasm. For instance when George Michael got outed in a London bathroom, I mean really, watch 2 seconds of any Wham video and tell me you didn’t see that one coming. That’s how I felt this weekend when news broke that OJ Mayo allegedly took money and gifts illegally before and...
NFL Draft
For some 700 young men the NFL draft is the culmination of a lifelong dream. A conformation that all those years of hard work, the sprints in 100 degree heat, squatting in the weight room till you puke, playing through the pain of broken bones and torn ligaments, was worth it. For a even smaller group the draft means financial security for the rest of their life no matter what else happens.

You may look at Ryan Leaf with disdain and call his career a utter disaster, but...

Voices In My Head (Updated 4/20)
I often just have random things that roll through the vast wasteland that is my mind. So I thought I would give them a place to stop rest a spell. This section of my webpage will be filled with random rants, observations, and moments of clarity. No rhyme, reason, just plenty of plot holes and spelling errors. Hope you enjoy taking a ride along the railways of my mind. Keep your hand and feet inside the car at all times please.

The John Scukanec Movie Report (updated 5/8)

Many of you might remember back when I first started the webpage here, under the name “The Barrett Robbins Experience” my brother John was a regular contributor.  But due to his contract demands we had to let him go. There’s just no room in the budget for silly demands like being paid.  But I am proud to announce that management has sat down with his representatives and a new deal has been struck (basically is boils down to a Pizza Hut Buffet once a week) to...

Girls Basketball
I was sitting in the stands of La Center Elementary last Saturday taking in the sights and sounds of a 5th grade girls basketball game and all the excitement that goes along with it. The double dribbles, shooting at the wrong basket (happened 3 times by the way), and the vicious battle that left the teams tied at four a piece after 2 quarters of play. Lakers V Celtics circa 1987 it was not. But I show up every Saturday and cheer on my little girl. Sure, she hasn’t scored all year and...
Fast Zombies
Austin Powers once said, “there are two things that scare me and one of them is nuclear war.” The other one being, “Carnies, you know carnival people, small hands smell like cabbage.” It’s one of the more prolific statements ever in cinematic history. But for me he left out one thing. It’s the one thing that truly terrifies me and keeps me up at nights. Not global warming, nor the economy, or some serial killer. What scares the bejebbers out of me is, fast zombies....
All Balls, All the Time
You the people have been asking for it, so who I am to deny you wishes. You want all balls all the time, you shall receive all balls all the time……
Things I know
Over the weekend I was driving in my truck. I made a casual left hand turn when to my surprise about 96 oz of 2 day old Pepsi ended up in my lap and all over my truck. Now as one might guess this wasn’t a good thing and several words were uttered in a loud tone that shant be repeated here. But know this, not only was I angry due to the soggy undies I was now rocking, but more so to the fact that the Pepsi in question here was my wife’s giant drink that can only be...
10 Things You Can't Live Without
Ropp And I were having a discussion the other day about things in life that there's just no excuse for not having. It is a scientific fact that there does exist in this world certain things that have taken on oxygen like properties and that evolved human beings needs to exist. Things like TIVO.  I'm not kidding here folks. I do not know how I survived before I found that magical little box that knows me better than I do. That records not only the programs I tell it to but also recommends...
The Great Outdoors
Over the past weekend I partook in the great American pastime of camping. Don’t ask me why people in this country leave their friendly confines that they work so hard for, to go out and sleep on rocks and not shower for 4 straight days. The concept is strange I know, and yet we all find ourselves at least once a year packing the tent and kids then heading off for the great outdoors. Over the handful of days I spent communing with nature I had several thoughts, ideas, and questions...
Chuck Norris Is Cooler Than You
I always get asked about the random Chuck Norris facts that we play on Primetime, which between you and me isn't nearly enough. But here they are in all their glory, or should I say in all his glory, the entire list of Chuck Norris facts.  Please use responsibly.
Scariest Environment Possible.
In the movie “Armageddon” Owen Wilson’s character asks what it will be like when they land on the asteroid. After receiving an answer that included some less the friendly conditions, he simply stated, “so the scariest environment imaginable, that’s all you had to say, scariest environment imaginable.” This scene kept popping in my head as I was watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel last Sunday. The show “Ocean of Fear” which chronicled the...
Letter To A Friend
Sports heroes are a dying breed. Michael Vick fans everywhere right now are regretting that 200 dollar jersey they bought. Kobe fans are wondering if their guy is looking to bolt LA. Josh Hancock got loaded, smoked some tree, then ran his car into a tow truck only to have his dad blame everyone but him. In this day and age when you find a hero worthy of your love, hold on tight because it's a rare thing. Last year I wrote this letter to mine to thank him for everything he did and didn't do over his 22 years on the ice. I thought I'd share it with you.
Judging A Book By It's Cover
Judging A Book By Its Cover I was sitting in my daily show meeting, pretending to listen to boss Dennis Glasgow, but in reality was thinking about what to do for lunch: Chinese or sandwich? I went Chinese by the way, and it was fantastic. When something caught my eye, the new Fan intern went walking by the office. Now I know nothing about this young man, as I never do with interns. For some reason they never talk to me, ever. There is a unspoken barrier that they all erect between themselves and...
Man Law
Over the years I have been involved in a blue ribbon fact finding commission with the sole purpose of coming up with some basic rules of life. We have been doing this for the better part of 10 years now. Recently my mind has turned to our list with the Miller Lite "Men of the Square Table" commercials. While not completely the same, I generally feel they have ripped off the idea from us and my lawsuit is in the mail Miller Lite folks. So I thought I would share with you the...
Wes Makin Delta Strike Force Action News Team. AKA the Dirty Dozen
It was not an easy task selecting this elite fighting force. I received over a hundred emails filled with even more nominees but alas I could only pick 12. That’s not to say that the people left off couldn’t head over to North Korea to kick some ass with the Action News team, just that they didn’t make the first cut. Let’s lay down the ground rules for making the team as laid out by listener Wes Makin for whom the team was named for. No superheroes, aliens, sci-fi gadget...
THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD
John Canzano recently wrote a piece about cardiologist Jeffrey Werner, who when finding out that he was dying of lung cancer wrote up a list of things he wanted to do before he died, then began to cross off as many as he could. If you haven't read it, take a look, it's one of the better things I have read in awhile and stands out as one of John's finest. I made a list much like Werner's while I was in college, and fortunately for me there wasn't any...
