Coach Ralph Southmayd: Les Schwab Athlete of the Month

Ralph has dedicated his life coaching youth soccer for the last 20 years. The past 10 years he has coached for Eastside United FC. He has also coached for Gladstone Soccer Club and Gladstone High School. His personal objective is as follows: "Provide a positive soccer experience including developing the physical skills and personal self esteem and character in the individual player and their team."

This year Ralph became the head coach of the Eastside United FC Tottenham girls U13 team. In a world of competitive year-around soccer, Ralph really gets what it is all about. Ralph keeps his team very competitive while making sure that every young lady grows not only as an athlete but also as a wonderful person. He expects a lot from his players and they respond very well to him. His team is currently in the quarterfinals of the State Cup. Ralph's team has made cards for the Meals on Wheels program to give to the elderly recipients of the meals. His team has visited and become involved with Mercy Corps. His team is involved with SOLV. We are thrilled that Ralph is donating a huge part of his life to help our girls become amazing young women.
