Mike Riley with Primetime at Pac-12 Media Day
Oregon State head coach Mike Riley joined Isaac Ropp and Jason Suckanec on Primetime, Friday. Among the many things he was asked - in particular, questions regarding the quarterback decision - the Beavers head coach dropped somewhat of a bombshell about "the most important void to fill going into Fall camp," which starts August 5th. The position? Defensive tackle.

The Beavers lost both Andrew Seumalo and Castro Masaniai. Two players who may not have made a statistical impact but certainly helped DE's Scott Crichton and Dyland Wynn, in terms of facing less double teams than they probably should have. Now, without two experienced seniors, Riley and Co., are looking to fill the voids and still allow their junior defensive ends to cause havoc in the backfield. Oregon State seemed to have figured it out by going and getting a couple of players who have established themselves on the college level in Siale Hautau (6'1 320, Ephraim, UT) and Edwin Delva (6'3 295, Miami, FL). Both junior college players.

During Riley's interview he made a subtle mention that there is a possibility of three defensive tackles that could be ruled ineligible next week (when Riley confirmed he'll find out).

"We've got some kind of bad news possibly looming at defensive tackle," Riley told Primetime. "We're not sure about a couple of junior college guys we were hoping for, eligibility wise. And even a senior defensive tackle  that has some question marks on his eligibility for his senior year, which is ridiculous."

If it is, indeed, Hautau and Delva, the Beavers will have to scramble and find any way possible to replace them, and hope whoever steps in can produce and alleviate the pressure off of Crichton and Wynn. Otherwise, it could be a long year for the defensive front for the Beavers. You can find the interview at 1080thefan.com in the Audio Vault.

Oregon State's Fall Camp Schedule
Oregon State released their Fall camp schedule today - which kicks off August 5th at 11a.m. - and the days highlighted are the days where players wear full pads.

My personal recommendation, in case you've never been, only go on full pad days. Easily the most entertaining (as far as practice goes). The Beavers opened up at Bovada LV at an over/under of 8.5 wins for the 2013 season.
